It’s the third full week of Lent, so we’re about halfway there! What is your Lenten resolution? Besides giving something up, have you tried working on something you struggle with? Or have you decided to pray more often? Go to Mass more often? Pray the Rosary? It’s not too late to start something new for Lent.
This week, also contemplate how you can de-clutter your life. What pulls you away from God in this world? What holds you back from a deep relationship with Him? There is so much noise in our world–cell phones, music, television, etc. What can you do to free yourself from attachments? We cannot take any of this with us when we die. We are called to simplify our lives, because Jesus was simple when he lived on earth with us. Think about it–he came to us as a helpless infant!
There are so many ways we can make time for God in our lives. Try turning off your phone and listening in silence. God comes to you in the silence.

I know that you have the challenges of balancing school, relationships, and possibly a job. Sometimes it may seem like the whole world is tumbling down, but years from now, you will remember this precious time and actually wish you could be where you are now once again. Cherish this time, because it goes by so fast. This state in your life can be extremely difficult, but know that it is passing, and you will get through it. Just do your best, and God will take care of the rest.
If you ever need to talk, or need a shoulder to lean on, know that I am here for you! Please email me at email@example.com and we can set up a time to talk. I know college can be full of challenges and I would like to help you in any way I can.
Below, I’ve posted incredible meditation from actor Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. He provides encouragement for living in this world of indifference. Check it out! You will NOT be disappointed!
Also, we are in GREAT need of cantors and musicians for our 5:30 Wednesday & Sunday Masses! If you have music talent and would like to serve, please fill out the form below and we will contact you!
Last but not least, here is your schedule for the week. Please check back for updates or changes.

Today is also the 45th Anniversary of the Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal in our country. According to statistics, from 1973-2014, there were almost 60 million abortions performed since its legalization in the United States. That’s 60 million babies. These people could have been your friends, classmates, future priests or religious. (This is just few examples to put this into perspective)
Let us pray for all the unborn, for those who have lost their lives to abortion, and for an end to abortion in our country.
Here is one college student’s stance on why she is pro-life:
I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Christmas! But wait…Christmas actually isn’t over! The Christmas season, or “Christmastide” began at the Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve, and (according to the traditional liturgical calendar) ends on the Presentation of the Lord, which is February 2! So keep celebrating! We have two weeks of Christmas left!
For a more in-depth explanation of the Christmas season, read this article:
Yes, it is the second week of Advent, but let us continue to keep a mindset of entering into this “season of devout and joyful preparation for the coming of Jesus.” (Words of Fr. Mike Schmitz from the video below.)
